The Mandolin - a history now on Kickstarter

Post by graham mcdonald » Thu Jul 23, 2015 2:24 pm

As some of you might know, over the past few years I have been working on a book about the history of mandolins, imaginatively called The Mandolin - a history. It is finally ready for the printer and to raise enough money to pay for the printing I have launched a Kickstarter campaign to pre-sell the 500 or so copies I need to have ordered up front. It is a little daunting, but also rather exciting.
The Kickstarter link is https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gr ... -a-history Please feel free to share the link on other musical forums and whatever social media you may indulge in.

The book will be more than 400 pages with over 450 colour illustrations (mostly pictures of mandolins) printed in a perfect-bound soft-cover edition in an 8" x 10" (20cm x 25cm) size. There is a limited edition of 25 hard-cover, leather bound copies as well. This book will be, I hope a basic reference on the wonderfully diverse world of the mandolin.

Thanks

Graham

You are not the only one to sign on for the leather bound copy.

Apparently the hard copy versions of the book are a big seller. Graham has arranged the printing of more copies. Get them while theyre hot.

"The 25 leather-bound hardback copies were taken up remarkably quickly, and a friend asked why I didn't make more available. The printer says this will bit be a problem, so I have added another 25. If you are interested it should be possible to upgrade, or at least tell your friends if you will.
Thanks
Graham"

An update from Graham:

"A generous backer kicked in the necessary funds to get the project over the line in the last 90 seconds. Hooray!!! I am away this weekend, quietly celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary with children and their partners at Ulladulla on the NSW south coast. No wifi here other than a bit of free wifi around the shopping centre or using data on the phone. A bit frustrating to be away from normal levels on communication.
Back home on Monday and we will start the final proofing and getting the files ready for the printer. I will be sending out Kickstarter surveys as well to make sure I have everyone's correct mailing addresses and whatever other info I need.
Thank you all for your support. It is much appreciated.
Graham"

150mm of rain forecast for New Years Day in Auckland.....think I'll stay on the couch tucked up with my copy of your book Graham. Arrived a day or so ago, looks great.
Well done for getting it published.
