Hard V neck profile

Post by simso » Sun Aug 24, 2014 11:33 am

Anyone played on a hard v neck profile.

Was asked to make a strat shaped neck the other day that was a hard v rear profile shape, I had seen, but never actually played on one.

It looks so uncomfortable.

Was really really surprised at how well the shape fits into your hand.

This is a cad drawing I did, used the cnc to actually make it.

I've seen lots af variations, included the twisted ones etc on the net. I've never been curious enough to buy and try.

Buy, no way. You always make your own.

I am not a fan of assymetrical, but the hand is not symmetrical either, is it. So kind of makes sense.

I was just really surprised at how comfortable this neck style actually is

We had a student a couple of years ago do a tenor uke neck with a deep V like that. Looked pretty odd, but did feel good.

My DBZ Halcyon has a softer V profile. It is oddly comfortable for rhythm playing, but not too good for soloing IMO. Each to their own of course.
