Re: What to charge ?
We charge 90 for a fret level and recrown, we charge a half price setup after that 35 if they want a setup, which is clean, intonation, nut tweak saddle tweak, tuner lube, electric functional check etc
Re: What to charge ?
In Brisbane it starts at 150 for pro level work (some charge a lot more). For that money the customer should get a complete service ie. buffed out frets (including ends), oil f/board, check everything is tight (pots, m/heads, socket, buttons), full set up, clean / polish. It all takes time, plus the consult and GST.
Re: What to charge ?
$280 and at that price I usually can't be bothered and send them to Steve

Re: What to charge ?
This has been enlightening and is being noted for future reference when I get asked to do such work.
Re: What to charge ?
The market will bear the price you charge if:
1. You're good or great (quality and reputation)
2. You market your services properly
3. You simply ask for what you are worth (mindset really)
Number three is important. You're more skilled than a bricklayer. What do they need to know? Start with one brick over two, or two over one?!?!

Re: What to charge ?
Our trade is the most costly trade to tool up for, you charge what you think is fair,
I think it's fair that I get xx an hr, to supply skills and tools to do the job, it's probably more than fair to charge more than that per hr, but I'm content with this amount.
I spoke to my doctor recently about being exhausted and sometimes overwhelmed by the workloads, his statement was " charge more" that will slow it down.
In the end only you know what you are worth, we sometimes charge more because we don't want the work, and usually then they say go ahead anyway......

Yes. That has been my experience lately as well. But at least I'm not grizzling about it so much and getting enough to buy a really nice bottle of Scotch on Friday,

Fixed it for you.
I am working with some guys right now on their marketing. One of the students is awesome, he does EVERYTHING I say
Funnily enough, he's now getting 60% more for his guitars (so, effectively more than double the profit), AND has a waiting list twice as long because people are signing up faster.
