I've been dreading this part of my latest build: a first attempt at making my own herringbone and wheat patterns for a custom rosette.
What I learned tonight while gluing up a dozen 30deg parallelograms of veneer, was that it's vital to add clamps and tighten them in the direction of the wedges. Made sense when I accidentally stumbled upon this fact *half way* through the gluing process

Next step is to square everything up, and then cut into several 3mm strips.
