Circle Cutter

Anybody have any experience with one of these?

I just bought it on eBay. My compulsive tool and wood buying habit is acting up :D .

No experience with this circle cutter but I have the Stewmac jig that does the same job. The jig itself will be fine being a Schneider creation but the problem for me is the Dremels...IMHO theyre useless for anything other than very light duty cuts (ie inlay work).....the Dremel is underpowered for anything else and generally the bearing play on the modern machines is too much for my liking. For cutting rosettes I use a stock standard (Trend T5) router with spiral cutter and a router circle cutting jig.

Thanks Martin,

I actually have the Stewmac one also. I am not a fan. I thought this tool might be good for scoring the outside lines and cutting the sound hole and I could use the Dremel hot hock out the rest.

Hi guys,

I'm in the market for one of these myself, and the only one I could find online was this one from LMI - http://www.lmii.com/products/tools-serv ... cle-cutter

I'm gonna buy it I think, so I'll let you know how it goes.

Basically I want to score the outside and inside edges of my rosettes, then do the rest with a router.

Cheers,

Wayde.

Has Anyone tried Michael Connors new Rosette and circle cutter ?

I'm still using the Dremell with success ( For Now ) but I have to agree with what Martin has said.

Hi Tod,

I've got one of Micheal Connors rosette and circle cutters, and it's a joy to use. You can cleanly score any line (inside or outside), and also remove waste. Easy to set up and repeat too. And it's a handtool, no batteries required!

Thanks,
GregL.

It's a far better tool than I am a craftsman but I still get good results.

I'm not sure if he will have any. I tried to buy one from him last year and he said he would get back to me when he made some more. He never did get back to me, you have just reminded me to chase one up as well.
