A lot of ABGs have the soundhole in the upper bout.
There's the Taylor:

and the Doolin with a very small soundhole

Craig

Have a talk to Peter Biffin.

I know he and Greg Smallman were experimenting with dual upper bout
soundholes in the 80's.

I remember playing one but I wasn't too impressed with what I heard.

I'm sure Peter will have some ideas for you.

A contrarian comment. On my floating fingerboard guitars, the upper bout has a very distinctly different tap tone from that of the lower bout. It's very much a tweeter/woofer effect. I haven't done glitter tests, but I'd be willing to bet that some of the tone I hear from my guitars...very long sustain of upper harmonics without harshness...comes from the top having two distinct areas of projection. So don't just automatically think, "big top=better." That's only a maybe...

I know Peter quite well . He lives fairly close to me, and has been of great help to me in the past. He's a very busy guy ,so I've been holding myself from pestering him,,,,,,,,,,,again !

It would only be conjecture as to how my experimental project will perform anyway . I'm just going to build it and see what happens , but I will try to catch up with him sometime soon . He's one hell of a nice guy and VERY knowledgable.

Cheers , Craig
