Curly Maple

Post by Graham Long » Mon Sep 30, 2013 4:08 pm

Hi All,
I'm looking for some Curly Maple (American). I was buying it from the States, but the freight costs have gone through the roof.
Can anyone put me onto an Australian Supplier?

Cheers
Graham

So Perry, are you offering Chuckie to select a set to help him out or are you just saying you've spent a lot on timber recently?

Graham

A bit more detail might be helpful. What species of Maple? What sizes are you after and what quantities? I use curly Maple, but have imported just about all of it from Europe and the US and am well aware of the ridiculous shipping costs. At one time you could import via surface mail, but that is not available any more. The only Australian supplier I know of is ALS, and they only have European Maple at high prices. You would be better off importing from Europe. Usually the source is the best place to buy because the Australian suppliers factor in the shipping costs. Don't know if there is an easy solution. My solution has been to buy as much as I could afford (and the missus would let me), before the shipping costs got out of control.

Rod.
As I said, I have a lot here, and more coming.

Soon, I'll go through it all, grade it, bookmatch where needed, sand, etc.

I figured that implied it will be for sale.

Perry, I would like an A and B grade archie back and sides. 25mm x 17in.

A polite request - for all of you interested in buying wood from Perry please go to his website and order via same or discuss with Perry directly via PM or email rather than via this thread .
