Using vacuum for necks and electric bodies?

Post by slowlearner » Sun Aug 18, 2013 6:38 pm

After watching luthiers tips de jur the other day and some of the cool things with vacuum fixtures, I was wondering whether anyone here is using vacuum bags for for gluing necks and bodies for electrics?

Seemed like the obvious thing to do to me but it left me wondering...
1. Is there a reason I shouldn't use vacuum for this sort of thing?
2. Where in Oz can I get a proper venturi valve for my compressor?
3. Who sells the sort of vacuum bags needed, or can I make them?

Thoughts, tips, etc?
Pete

I use it for gluing veneer tops down, but thats about all. I wasnt happy with the results using it to glue fretboards or solid tops.
