Yep it was 70% relative humidity two days ago and this afternoon 17%.

Not so good for guitar building.

Irony being I've been thinking I need to sort out some sort of humidity control if I'm ever to complete current build - didn't think I'd need to add moisture though.

For those of you that have built a dry room - what is the smallest area you think is practical ?

I haven't but I reckon half the size of my workshop would be ideal mate.

You could then store your wood in there and build a nice size work bench with a go bar deck one end so you can work freely around three side of it when gluing up.

Cheers

I finally built one. It's 1.2m x 2.1m. I put a bench on either end, and have a door in the centre. I can use both benches as go-bars, and a salvaged dehumidifier has kept the RH at 40-50%.

It's enough for me. I can comfortably build two or three at once, and keep all the necessary bits in the proper environment during the crucial phase. I take them out of RH-controlled environment once the box is shut....
I wish I was half the man my dog thinks I am....

Thanks Alan & Nick.
Nick, good to know a relatively small space is working out well for you - obviously a large area would be great, but I've got to build it and then keeping it humidity controlled will just get harder for me up here the bigger it gets. My thoughts were to have a space big enough for the times it's really needed - pretty much as you appear to use yours. (plus I'm walking a fine line with the family as to how much time and effort is being spent in the shed as it is - I've still got to reno' one of the small sheds for the "better half" as a home office :o )

cheers

Mines about the size of a dunny. Just enough to close the door behind and work in.

Oops - thought I'd left such stumbling around somewhat worse for the devils liquor back in my dim and distant past. Many apologies

You could get by with a small dunny size room Kevin, but you've seen my dry room and for me it's just adequate. I'd really like to do the entire back bay of the shed.

OK, looks like I'll need to build in stages - start with the dunny, then extend to a full bathroom and add the master bedroom later. Practically living in the shed as it is - might as well make myself comfy
