First time on TV

Post by peter.coombe » Sun Oct 21, 2012 7:37 am

Thsi is a bit of a blow of the trumpet, but I am so stoked about this I thought I would tell you lot.

Watch out for the ad of Kasey Chambers and Shane Nickelson advertising their latest CD on TV. Take note of the mandolin he is playing. It is one of mine. Woo hoo!

Here it is -

I was sitting quietly watching TV last night when the ad came on. Nearly fell out of the chair!

Forgot to say what the woods are. The woods are Carpathian Spruce and European Maple. This is the first mandolin I made using Carpathian Spruce. It turned out so nice that since then I have been using it for just about all my Spruce topped mandolins.

Congratulations Pete,

A little touch of well deserved recognition that shows Shane Nickelson not only has talent, but good taste also. 8)

Cheers

I saw there were some pictures of the coombe mandos at the working with wood show at the melbourne showgrounds. Woodworking Forum had pics of some of their members creations. Also happened to bump into Jeremy and a few other familiar faces.

And we couldn't slap the grin off of Peter's face.

Way to go mate. We're all envious of such great exposure.

When thinking of similar surprises you might well deservedly face in the future, installing safety belts on your TV chair would be a good investment for you. 8)

Congratulations. I'd never listened to mandolin very much until I recently heard some wonderful Bach arranged for the mandolin on ABC FM, and chased down the CD - a Deutsche Grammophon release on which Avi Avital plays his arrangements of some Bach concertos and sonatas. DG have put a trailer for the release up on Youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGU44B-aAkU
