Trevor Gore Course

Post by Dominic » Sun Apr 08, 2012 10:11 pm

Hey, hope everyone is having a nice break. We are looking for any interest in running another course with Trevor. Mr Clancy and I are keen and we need around 6 more people to make it worth while for Trevor. We are in Canberra and could travel to Sydney if we can find a venue. Alternatively we could do it here and have people take the nice trip to Caberra. But everything is open to negotiation. Place, date, etc.

So if you are keen to learn first hand from Trevor, if you live around Sydney/Canberra region or are prepared to travel, let us know. No obligation, we are just putting out feelers. The course is $500 for 3 full days of workshops. Perhaps John or Jeff could give us their impressions of the course at some stage.

Cheers

Thanks guys, 3 of us in Canberra eh? Perhaps we could do it at my place. I should have enough room if I clean up my workshop.
So we need another 5 people or so but the venue is still up for discussion.
Martin, if you let us know your schedule we can work those dates into it.
Cheers

I've got a spare room here to help any "out of towners" with the costs.
You'd also get your own bathroom but would be required to share the tranquil sounds of screaming kids.

Count me in as well, my band does have some bookings through Sept. the sooner I know the possible dates the better. I would really enjoy the course as well as seeing your country.

I would be keen to be a part of it. I am in Sydney, but a trip to Canberra would be fine by me also. It would depend on fitting it around work commitments (there are a few weeks when I would be unavailable in May). It would be really cool to meet a few of you guys in the flesh.

By my count that's 7 maybe's (I had one PM). And it looks like May could be out. I would be cool to do it in June. So throw in your bids or tell us when you can't make it and we'll see if we can narrow it down to a weekend we are all happy with. Of course we have to make sure Trevor can make it as well.

And there should be enough of us from Canberra to look after out of towners. My place does not have screaming kids but there is a yappy dog next door that is way past its use by date.

Cheers

I'm retired, and don't have any trips planned for the next few months, so I can fit in with what suits other people so far as scheduling the course is concerned.

At this stage of my career June is looking good, apparently better than your neighbour's dog!

I am definitely interested. I'll bring my calculus text books and slide rule with me!!
Coming from Melbourne, so not fussed where it is.
Timewise, I would be limited to a long weekend or first 2 weeks of July (school holidays).

Hey Frank, have you left the Top End or do you just return south during school holidays?

Hi Craig, with much regret, we had to return to Melb just before xmas for personal reasons. It was an amazing year, but circumstances back home resulted in us pulling the plug earlier than planned. Guitar building has had to be placed on the shelf since our return also, but will kickoff again after mid year. The unpredictability of life...
Good to hear from you Craig.

My band is booked June 15, 16, other than that any other weekend will do for me.

We have the Queens birthday on Monday 11th June. So how would the weekend of the 9th 11th June be. It can't possibly be that easy, could it.?

What suburb of Canberra would be the location for the course?

Scott, not sure where it will be yet. Canberra is easy to get around so don't worry. Once we know how many are keen and decide on a date we can find a place to do it. I've contacted Trevor to ask what sort of venue is suitable.
But so far the queens BD 9-11th June seems like a good option. We'll have to see what Martins schedule is.

cool, I was just checking hotels and restaurants in the area. I am thinking about flying into Sydney and driving down to Canberra, get a look at the countryside of Australia. Is it a nice drive?

Is it a nice drive
Once you get out of Sydney it's a cruisy 3 hrs down the highway through mostly farmland.
You won't see sand dunes & desert scapes on that trip.

If you like the ocean then you could head due south from sydney following the coast until you hit Bateman's Bay (3hrs), then turn west & head inland to Canberra (2 hrs from the coast).
A round-about route but more interesting.

If it is in june, after the course you could drive 2 more hrs south to the New South Wales snow fields & go skiing. Not many people from outside the country realise that it snows here (albeit in a limited area).
It's also not a cheap day out!

I'm sure others will have other ideas for you, like skipping the whole cold south & flying north instead.
