Thanks Bob, I've been waiting to see this guitar take shape. The BRW looks so classy. Beautiful work as per usual mate. The lower bout looks like it's a bit wider than a typical parlour. So how long have you been sitting on this set of BRW and is this guitar for yourself?

Thank you again for the progress pictures.

Cheers

Alan

Alan - I think it's just the camera angles that are making it look a bit barge-arsed.

The body shape is a Martin O-16 which I got from John Hall a few years back. It's a 12 fret to the body job.

I've had that set of Brazilian for a number of years and it's the only set that I have so I decide to pull the trigger and build with it. I'ts nicely quartered and has a reasonable tap tone. The workshop has smelt pretty good for the last few days.

I guess I'll keep it but then I suppose everythings for sale at the right price.

I do like that wood combination.

A lot like one I've done, though mine's only an EIR and a 000. And you wouldn't bloody believe it, after finally getting set up in a new town, after going through more interruption and BS than you'd believe, ready to finally spray some nitro, my compressor shits itself. Gotta laugh.

I'll get the neck fitted first Kim. I find I tend to get scratches in the finish that are difficult to remove if I put the finish on first

Just ordered some short truss rods from Allied so it'll be about 2 weeks before I start shooting any finish on to it.

I bought one of those headstock routing jigs from Luthier Tools so I'll have afew practices with that on some scrap before I do the real one. No hurry on this one. I'm just enjoying the ride.

I've heard rumours that your stash of Brazilian Rosewood is the largest in the US north of the Mason-Dixon line Don, so you might as well start using some of it.

Bob,
That is looking fantastic. My current build will have a similar look as far as the purfling goes, I have Australian Red cedar B & S , Lutz top with Rosewood Bindings and a silky Oak purf, I have been worried that the rosewood and Au Cedar may bleed into my Silky oak and lutz, I would be interested in knowing what precautions you take to prevent this ?

Cheers Tod :)

Through my monitor the 'dry' pics almost looked like IRW  and I'm thinking "whats all the fuss about with this stuff?" but now the finish is going on & it's starting to pop I'm thinking "Now that's what I'm talkin' 'bout!"

The last few weeks while I've been sanding it the whole workshop has had a beautiful, sweet smell to it. Nothing like EIR (which I reckon smells like dog turds)

My mate Mark (who I rent the workshop from) loves the smell of it and has been getting a regular whiff of it due to the fact that his beer fridge lives in the shed.

He was most disappointed yesterday because I'd started sanding some Huon Pine. Nothing wrong with the smell of Huon mind you, but I do love the smell of a Brazilian in the morning.

This stuff is fairly plain as far as Braz goes Nick. It's cut dead on the quarter unlike most of what you see for sale now which is usually flatsawn stumpwood.

That's such a nice looking guitar Bob :D

The Brazilian really pops with the Z-poxy I think I will give it ago on my next build.

Bob could you explain the procedure you go through to fill you're guitars if you don't mind :)

Cheers Dave
