Shipping a Strat from Melbourne to Adelaide

Post by kiwigeo » Mon Jan 30, 2012 8:34 pm

Ok it looks like I might be the owner of a Fender Strat.

One question....what is the best way to ship an electric from Melbourne to Adelaide? Guitar is in a hard shell case.

I had a Strat shipped from Perth to Newcastle via Aus post a couple of years ago, from memory it was around 50 - 60 dollars and took about 5 days to arrive. It was in a hard case with bubble wrap and cardboard around that and it arrived safe and sound.
Congrats btw

Thanks Matt,

Ive had varying reports about Aus Post mainly in regard to handling of goods and chasing up lost goods. Will consider them though.

When shipping instruments around the country I use Australia Post if the package is in their size limit. I've not had one single issue with them, though using their tracking facility has been a joke. It only seems to kick in when the delivery person picks it up from the destination post office and is on their way to your place. Not giving you much notice. I don't bother with it after the last 5 instruments have produced the same results.

And as a warning to others. Last guitar I sent down south a few months back was too big so had to use a courier. If anyone is considering using Trans Direct then I would encourage them to find someone else. They were so hopeless that it defies belief that they are still in business. Picked up the parcel 7 days after it was scheduled to be picked up. Calls ever day to remind them gave us the response that they'd get there when the get there. And while they didn't say so in so many words we were left with the feeling of being told to F*%k off. We've already got your money, so what are you going to do?

Delivery of 5 business days down to NSW took 14.

Hey Martin, give us a look when you get it. I have sent 12 or so electrics to varying parts of oz in the post too. From memory it has to be under 1050mm but I have had no troubles with well packaged items.

Aus post will not normally accept it if it is over 1m long, but once the person takes it they will ship it.
Pack N Send are quite good and they are reasonably priced. $60 from Syd to Melb. If they are near you.
