Hey Gilesy, welcome to the ANZLF.
I am be no means an expert on weisseys either but I would imagine that string height, or action, would not really be that much of a concern, if they sound great to you now then your probably doing it right I reckon. That said, aside from Alan, we also have Bob Connor who has been a veritable weissonborn production machine of late and has pumped enough of them out over the last 12 month to know them inside out. The best thing is that both of these guys are also very good players so I would be happy to take any advice they may offer as the good oil.
Looking forward to your continued input
Cheers
Kim

Re: weissonborn laps
Sounds about right.
I think most of mine are around 15mm at the saddle which is a little higher than I'd set for a conventional 6 string.
One thing that I will mention is that most of that 15mm is taken up by the bridge, so my Weiss bridges are quite thick. I leave about 3mm of the saddle protuding and ensure that there is at least 6mm of the saddle embedded in the bridge. There's a fair amount of torque at that height so I try and leave a bit more meat in front of the bridge saddle to prevent cracking.
Regards.

Re: weissonborn laps
G'day Gilesy,
I have mine 5mm at the nut and 12mm at the top of the saddle. My bridge height is 10mm with 2mm saddle exposed.
The MIMF plan which is a copy of an original weissenborn guitar has the action much lower. I don't like that personally as I find the tone bar is inclined to bang into the fingerboard and top of the guitar. Note that is using medium gauge strings and tuned to open D.
Welcome to the forum mate.
Cheers
