Price is $200 with standard postage in Australia free. Express or overseas post will cost you extra. I just got an email informing me the books are due to ship at end of July.

Graham McDonald wrote:I had the chance to read through the 'Build' volume last year in a draft form, and I can unreservedly recommend it. It should become a basic reference work for guitar builders, especially if it can get some traction in the US luthier community. As someone who has written a couple of instrument building books, I know how much work Trevor and Gerard have put into this. More power to them! (as my Irish friends might say)

cheers

Thanks for the update and explanation. At least it was not an issue on my computer somehow. I will bide my time until it is released officially.
I managed to log in and get my order in and pay via credit card. Im pretty sure I only ordered one set
Looks like you'll have to re-order after all Martin! At least they are still (by sounds) offering the same deal, just at a later date. Should be plenty of copies to go around I'd say...

Still, I really ought to memorize my cc details between now and then... or perhaps tape it to my forehead or similar  :D

I have just received my copies of the Gore/Gilet books and I have to say that I am impressed! I am going away for a month and sadly will only have baggage allowance for one so I will take the Design book with me to read on the plane and at my destination. I have read the preface and the introduction and have enjoyed the concise but modest tone it exudes.
I look forward to reading it over the next little while and also to reading the comments that will be posted here.

John

Reckon you'll be able to get the book open once the person in front of you puts their seat back?

The books arrived 10 minutes ago........had a quick thumb through Book One and was like a kid in a candy shop. This book is going to be well thumbed and covered in hide glue before too long.

Thumbing through Book One and I notice Trevor and Gerard have signed inside cover of the book. Nice touch. My first impression....this book is definitely a reference text I'm going to be reaching for frequently.

Definitely a High class production
Because as they say several times they have not dumbed down the science, it is not a casual read, nor for those unprepared to deviate from tradition or reliance on feel and intuition.
The design book is something I suspect will take me a long time to digest, but it is there as a reference when I am ready.
The build book is a great instructional in both traditional and modern construction from fan and X brace through lattice and Trevor's falcate bracing.
The method of performance testing of the finished guitar for monopole mobility seems like a brilliant objective technique to evaluate your work.

Some questions for Trevor
- Are you able to provide spreadsheets for download?
- Any plans for a Q and A forum to assist readers in understanding and implementing the book's methods?
-Youtube videos ?

After having the "pre-sale" in my cart only to miss out as the product was removed from sale, I was a bit slower on the re-uptake.

Only just had the opportunity to order my set yesterday.

Very much look forward to them and the years of "food for thought" they will provide.

Ordered my set once Trevor posted that they were available. Just waiting for the postie to deliver mine then I'll be "un-available" for a few days! These sound like they are going to be an excellent read so can't wait!
Just a question Trevor, do you post overseas orders via Australia Post? Just to give me some idea of when I can stop running to the letterbox, I'm not used to all this exercise you see!

My Set of books arrived the other day. Content is fantastic. Sadly, my postie left them just inside the gate....in the rain.
Volume 1 is fine...Vol 2 water damaged....
Its still drying out with water absorbing paper between each page.
But...still reads very well.
Well done Gerard and Trevor, I hope that you are forced into many reprints in the coming years and that you become rewarded for the time and effort that you have put into this world class text.
All the best
Kevin

Got mine today with TNT. :D

This will be my last post on this forum for a while, until I have read and understood the 1st volume.
...and yet, this does not mean that I will have understood the book when you read me again here around...  :dri

The TNT will be handy for blowing up some of the diagrams.

 O.K. I expressed myself not that well. There was actually no TNT left in the envelope but Gilet/Gore used it to shoot the books right next to my door step. The diagrams are big enough, no need to blow them up. Btw, I did not know until now that TNT (not trinitrotoluene but Thomas Nationwide Transport, well established in Europe) was founded in Australia. One more thing I learned through these books. :D

No problems with your English mate. My Kiwi niece who's currently living in Switzerland is starting to forget her English....shes also having a few other adventures. Last week she stabbed her foot with a pitch fork.

That explains why she is starting to forget her English, a language which lacks the adequate vocabulary for such cases.

Ordered Friday, received interstate on Monday - can't beat that! 8)

Fantastic at first glance and much detail to pour over in both volumes.

Just a quick word of thanks to Trevor and Gerard, also a quick apology to my family and friends in advance for the next while...

Jeremy.
