WAS abating, WDS on the rise! Turning tonewood into tonesaw

I tried my hand at re-sawing today. I have a piece of 6"x1" NGRW that is QS for half its width then runs out. I took 30" an ran 2"+ off the run out edge for neck/ heel blanks. I sawed the rest into 5 strips. 2 tenor side sets and a soprano side set. I took 3 neck blanks out of the next 18".
I have another piece that is QS almost all the way across. I took 13 /12" an trimmed 3/4 " off the runout edge. I made sure not to get too ambitious and went for 4 slices this time. 2 book matched backs.
The colour of the backs is redish while the sides and necks have a more greyish hue. They still look good together (in my opinion).
I took the end off some WRC the other day. I used the runout edge for tone bars waist bars for my WRC top. I sawed 2 tops out of the good edge.
It looks like I'm making 4 ukuleles now. I will post some pictures in the morning.

Sounds complicated Tonxi. Looking forward to the pics. Problem I always have is getting the thickness right. Too thick means too much sanding and too thin.......well you can use it to start the fire.

My mate works at the sheltered workshop in town. He will thickness sand the lot for $10.
They sell bags of sawdust for $10 each to use in your smoker. Imagine how much tonedust is worth!

Sorry for the delay but my mate came around and I went and surveyed his house for an extension he wants to build.

The reason my sides are a different colour became obvious this morning when I had a look in daylight.
I sawed the wrong plank!
I cut blackwood sides and necks, not NGRW. Never mind. I will just cut some NGRW sides and necks and some blackwood backs.
A couple more WRC tops and I will have 6 ukes instead.

NGRW plank on top of blackwood. I know I had sunglasss on and the light was going but still can't believe that I mixed them up. NGRW backs on top of WRC tops on the right.

Not perfect but thick enough to use. I didn't waste any.

I caught it off you! Yes it is great!
I just went through it all. The plank on top of the blackwood is actually Tasmanian Beech. I don't know if it is any good as tonewood but it is QS and I am going to try it.
I also have 1 length jarrah, 2 of tassie oak and quite a lot of cherry myrtle. The grain is all over the place in the myrtle but I hope to find a few usable sections. I will use it for something else if not. It was cheap enough at $6.60M and it is very attractive.
I just cut the last of my QS NGRW to length for sides and backs. will finish up with 4 NGRW sets and a plank left for necks.

The pieces that you've sawn look nicely quartered. Is that one of the blackwood necks in the top photo? How did you go with the neck blocks?

Yes that is a blackwood neck blank. I will saw 1 to make blocks for the others.

I don't know if it is good for tonewood but it is so nicely quartered that I thought I would give it a go.

I've made electric bodies out of it (I know, I've not used it on acoustics yet), it machines nicely, isn't 'stringy' (it's similar to maple but is no where near as hard) & remains stable so I can't see there being a problem using it.
