Go bar rods and L.S bearings

Post by Kamusur » Wed Jun 29, 2011 9:08 am

Gearing up and i have come by some fg rods 1/4 inch x 24inches (just over 6mm x 600mm) they are quite rigid and exert plenty of force when bent (many seem to use smaller dia rods) and my concern would be that they may starve the joint of glue, so i have a question please for anyone who has used em.
Is there that much difference with the 3/16 inch rods? (Perhaps a safer choice to exert a little less force when gluing up)
I have also sourced some Lazy susan bearings (2 different supliers) to build a binding router jig but they are not at all precisley made. They are quite sloppy with lots of play and would not be very accurate at all. I have never used em before and i was wondering if they are all built like this?
Does any one have a source for a higher quality LS bearing please.

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to answer it is much appreciated

Steve

G'day Steve, for the bearings have a look at Dave White's site here http://www.defaoiteguitars.com and find his binding jig as it might have a source for the parts he used, or if he is around at the moment he may answer you anyway.
