I'm having some fun (difficulties) with the neck relief (sorted out now, stupid noob mistake) of my 335 build, and of course I jump straight onto the 'net to source images and whatnot for reference.
I found this little jem - dedicated to Gibson's es-335 and more, a comprehensive blog site - Charlie Gelber has obviously spent a lot of time developing, but no domain - not sure why, but it is really cool and I wanted to share with you guys. find the site here - http://030be21.netsolhost.com/WordPress/
Oh, and I've also been looking at this today to - Gibson's new yet to be released Firebird X - http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electri ... ird-X.aspx
A total geek guitar, indeed, what I found interesting was how much discussion it has created (over 3000+ comments), mostly traditionalists, arguing over the usability and functionality of such a complex creation. Where do we leave tradition behind? I must agree though - even for this geek, it's just too much in one guitar. What do you guys think?

Thanks for the 335 link Jeremy, quite a good site (a 335 is on my rather long "must build" list
) too.
Speaking of Gibson, I see they have quite a few Strat/Hendrix lovers in a tailspin (& even a few die hard Gibbo owners)
http://www.strat-talk.com/forum/stratoc ... strat.html
Made in China too, just to rub further salt into the wound.

Nice to hear in church but not in a Mexican prison.

WTF! That's weak on so many levels...and look...Jimi looks like he's getting ready to yawn in the photo of the box on the right!

Thanks Nick

Re: obfuscated 335 site and the firebird x
Hi Nick - I've been digging around following up info about the guitar pack that the estate of Jimi Hendrix was releasing with Gibson - sure enough, there was a press release from the estate about it here: http://www.musicradar.com/guitarist/jan ... deo-244336
It appears Gibson also had a feature about it as well in their blog site, in the lifestyle area, but it has since been pulled - this was all about 2009-ish. The trail goes quiet after that.
Then I found this: http://4henry.gibson.com/index.php?/top ... ndrix-sig/ - according to Gibson in mid '10, the estate saw how much of a bad public reaction the idea got when presented, and consequently backed out of the deal.
I agree - it would have been nasty looking and poorly constructed - however they were planning to market it toward the squier/junior end of the market, hence why I guess China ended up with the production originally. Still, bad excuses for crapping on Jimi's legacy, I'm glad someone saw the sense in it and killed the idea..
