Nifty glue dispencers

Post by rocket » Thu Mar 24, 2011 3:49 pm

I thought this might be of interest to some, especially those who are new to the art of lutherie.
For me, applying glue to the workpiece without making a bloody mess has been a problem, well recently i've found a method to help me keep the sticky stuff under control a bit, resulting in less waste, less ooze out, less mess.
I found some little plastic bottles with needle point nozzles, similar to those that Hot Stuff C/A comes in in an art supplies store. For hhg i simply mix in bottle and heat and apply, no mess no fuss, simple. For tite bond just decant and apply at will!!!!

Hi Rocket, I'd really like to know the name of the store where you found those glue dispenser bottles. Several months ago I spent ages trying to find glue dispensers, both 'in-store' and 'on-line'. I eventually gave up!

Rod are you sure that the Carlton draught in the background hasn't been the cause of your messy gluing ...hahaa
looks like a brilliant little bottle obviously perfect for purfling and binding,

cheers,
Christian.

Nice one Rocket,
Here's my glue dispenser, once the contents have been consumed, wash it out re-lable it and hey presto.
Holds up to 250ml and the screw top lid seals the contents.
Hey if it's good enough to hold sauce, it's gunna be great for glue.

Syringes are superb for new and repair work and if you explain what you are doing with them doctors, dentists and vets can be forthcoming sources for all sorts of sizes.

I bought a swag of small plastic bottles from one of those $2.00 shops and put my own nozzles on them, I obtained them from many different sources, including caulking gun nozzles. I just drill a hole in the cap and fit and glue the new nozzle in.

Been looking for a source of small glue bottles for months up in the nether regions of the far north. Tried all the obvious places with no luck whatsoever. Hobby shops, art shops, kitchen supply, restaurant supply, $2 shops, hardware stores etc.

The wife found these yesterday in one of the large Hairhouse Warehouse stores in town. The smaller one didn't have them.

Called hair dye applicator bottles. Very small hole in the nozzle so good for careful application of glue to small pieces.

How interesting! I use the exact same identical bottles, found at a JoAnn fabric/craft store here in the USA :) Love 'em. I keep them floating in a $15 hot pot (http://www.amazon.com/Crock-Pot-32041-C ... 916&sr=8-1). Cheap and effective hide glue setup :cl
