A Cool Yule and a little Christmas Competition

I posted this on the OLF so apologies for duplication for some of you. I'd like to say a Cool Yule to all ANZLF'ers and have recorded a Christmas Carol for you all. This Carol has always fascinated me since I was a little boy - I think it's the "dark" quality and the references to torches - burning in the New Year. It could also be about the spontaneous combustion of Giant Tortoises in the Galapagos Islands - Kim will get this one .

Anyway here's an off-the cuff arrangement of Torches in DADGAD that started to emerge last week and that I recorded tonight. I also thought it would be fun to record a number of guitars one after the other with the same tune and same recording set-up (AKG C1000S microphone with flat EQ and no added effects). So as a fun competition see if you can match the four clips to the guitars.

Dave,
This is a great execise in ear training, and by the way all four guitars sound real nice! And of course, your wonderful playing.

I found it easy to hear both the small box of the parlour guitar and the cedar/maple GC. What was hard, was too decide which one was the fan fret euro. I cheated I went to your web site to hear the recording of the Fan fret. I found it interesting that I could not tell the difference before I was able to listen to what the fan fret sounded like.

I found this fun, as a test for myself. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
