8 string lap steel guitar

Hi folks, not been on the site for a while busy with gigs going to TAFE.
A friend wants me to build him an 8 string slide instrument I asked him how about a reso instrument perhaps out of a hub cap or cigar box because I know about them . But he is keen on a lap slide.
Does anyone know where is the best place to buy hardware for an 8 string electric instrument?
like a pick up, tuning machines,strings sets, maybe a pre made bridge set up.
Any ideas even plans would be appreciated.
