Maccaferri and Archtop builders

Post by P Bill » Mon Nov 15, 2010 9:46 am

The 4th annual OzManouche is on again at the end of this month. There will be no charge this year for entry to the Djamming area or to show your instruments.
I show my basses there every year. You wouldn't want to miss the concerts, though, which do require a pass.
Ewan MacKenzie, the main organizer and a very fine guitarist, said: " if any of the luthiers would like to come and display their wares they'd be most welcome :-) i'd love to try them for one. see you soon! "

This week's Queen Street mall gig details are here:

P.S. Send me a pm if you need a display table.

I'd really love to be there. If it's held annually, I'll make a definite date for 2011, and make sure I have a couple of guitars to bring along. I would be really interested to know how much interest there is in Australia in gypsy jazz, and how many Australian guitar makers make, or have made Selmer/Maccaferri style guitars.

Same as Mike, if i know it's on again next year i'd plan a trip up there and take a couple of instruments with me to show' might be a good oportunity to look up some of the locals of the lutherie persuasion! :gui :gui

I'd be up for it next year too Bill, just on the gold coast as I type & spent this year's allocation of "overseas" funds

My shout. I don't about Australia wide but Manouche seems healthy in Bris. Many locals come to the jam and to preform as well as Sydney and Melbourne bands. One of my bass players is in a local Manouche band and I know his guitar players are absolutely fanatical about Maccaferris. Nick I think yours Would knock'em out.

I'm no longer playing with the manouche band I was with for the past year - personal reasons. But i'm looking for another in Sydney, so if anyone hears a manouche whinging that they can't find a bassist send them my way ;-)

Can't make it up to Brissy this year either Bill. Too much on my plate.
