Hello :D

I am plan to start a new LP build next week from Australian wood and i have a few questions if its ok :D

Im looking at a similar sound to mahogany for the body, Tas blackwood is a winner so far, although im after something a little less bright/light, with a rich warmth.

As for the neck/fretboard, im open for suggestions, something like ebony but Aussie.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated as i really am clueless to alot of our native woods,

G'day Tim,

I'm half way through a Les Paul Junior presently! The body is Queensland Maple which is very similar to mahogany. Mine will have a figured Blackwood cap and Queensand Maple neck. Maton have been using Queensland Maple on their electric range of guitars for a long time. Belman Guitars also used Queensland Maple for their electric bodies. I have played a Les Paul look alike built by Belman from Queensland Maple with a Tasmanian Ash figured top. The guitar is an absolute ripper in all ways tonally and ascetically. They did make beautiful instruments though!

Here is a link to my build if your interested:

Cheers guys, ill check them out

Edit
That build is looking really nice allen, thanks for the link;)

And Bob, Sassafras it is, i read up on it and it seems this is the stuff 8)

Do you think maybe a QLD mable neck will pair up well with a solid sassafras body?
