Hi all, I was reading about using 'thin viscosity rubber cement' to stop a truss rod rattle.
The article says it's paper gluing rubber cement you get at the stationery store.
What is this stuff??Does it work?
Here is the article.

Re: Rattling Truss Rod Fix?
Firstly, welcome to the forum. Can you introduce yourself and give us a name.
Secondly, if Frank Ford says it works, then it works. I've never gone looking for rubber cement in Australia, but it's pretty common in the USA and Canada.

Welcome to the forum gtrnut, as Allen said a quick intro & name is always appreciated & a nice friendly touch (as we are all friendly around here Wink Laughing)
Don't know about OZ but in NZ this stuff isn't commonly available from a stationary store but I believe I've seen some in an art supply store so you could try there if you have one available locally, otherwise google will find one for you Smile . Again as Allen said, if Frank Ford recommends or uses this technique then it's got to be good. Frank is one of the most respected repair guys in the business.

Note Franks comments about not using rigid glues where the truss rod is a two way adjustable type.

Hi guys, thanks for the welcome!
Mark's my name.Sorry, I'm used to having to create 'unique' user names like on other forums and thought this one was the same.
Ok, so the art supply shop sounds like the best bet.
Yeah I don't know what product he is refering to when he mentions paper gluing rubber cement from the stationary store.
Cheers.

Welcome Mark. If you edit your profile, you can put your name in your signature.
You can also find rubber cement at an art supply store.

Re: Rattling Truss Rod Fix?
G'day Mark, you should have no trouble buying "Rubber cement" it is readily available in Oz, any art/stationary supply should have it as it is widely used for gluing paper because of it ability to be rubbed right off the paper into little rubber balls with your finger why it is dry. I think it is the same as the stuff you get in those small bicycle puncture repair kits too.

F2 is a contact glue & doesn't 'run' as well in it's raw state as the low viscosity rubber cement I believe was refered to in Frank's tutorial, but it certainly does dry to a rubbery consistency!

Thanks guys.
About the bike glue - tell you what, I'll try to get them to throw in the bike if I buy the glue.
That's a better deal.
