Hi Alex, I believe Morgans paints in Knox do supply nitro, i think Deano said he purchased some there.
Allboard distributors also supply Morotone laquers suitable for finishing guitars. Hope you find what you want. Cheers Rod.

Hi Alex.

Mirotone have an office and distributors in Melbourne. They sell high quality pre-cat lacquer (clear) suitable for instruments in satin, semi or full/high gloss. Give them a go - many of us have used their lacquer successfully for years.

Good luck with the build and welcome to the forum btw. Smile

Jeremy.

Welcome Alex,

Which part of Vic are you from? Knowing a more precise area may help pinpoint someone who can really help you out a little better.

I get my Mirotone pre-cat Clear and thinners from both Allboard Distributors in Bayswater
and also Milsome auto paints in Fern Tree Gully.

For actual solid colours you'll most likely have to order the colour in through a distributor near you, or drop into head office in Dandenong. Not usually in stock at distributors.

Rocket Rod - Deano had bought Wattyl Stylwood from Morgans auto paints. I've used this stuff on five different guitars and found it to hold a great gloss level but is extremely brittle and way too temperamental for my liking. Nowhere near as stable as Mirotone precat I.M.O. I believe Deano has also had issues with the stuff too.

Good luck, Alex.
