Mojo Webb at Queenstown Jazzfest

Post by kiwigeo » Sun Oct 24, 2010 6:35 am

In Queenstown New Zealand at the moment at the ASB Jazzfest. Yesterday was spent sitting in the sun lunching to the sounds of Brisbane based Aussie delta bluesman Mojo Webb. This guy is so good I reckon he must have been born on the Mississippi delta in a past life. A hot guitarist and he plays a mean blues harp as well.

I used to go and see him at little cafe/bars in Brisbane's West End when I lived there. Very impressive performer and a really nice guy to boot. He was more than happy to give me some pointers on how to get a nice raunchy sound from an acoustic through a PA. Perfect for some dirty slide blues.

Met a lovely musician by the name of Josephine Constain today. She's from Palmerston North and as well as having a beautiful voice she also plays some nice guitar. The guitar she was playing was a Martin OOO....an Eric Clapton sig model retro-fitted with a K and K western pickup system.

Still havent managed to find Graham Wardrop.....hes around somewhere.
