Auction - Tiger Myrtle Parlour set

Post by Bob Connor » Sat Oct 24, 2009 9:13 am

G'day Everyone

I'm going to have a series of no reserve auctions to raise some funds for a new server to host the ANZLF.

The current server is an old Pentium II 350MHz which sits under the desk in my office at home. It's hard drives are full and it's only a matter of time before it dies on us.

The new server will cost about 500 bucks so I'm just looking for enough to cover the cost of the hardware.

It costs very little to run the forum and we have no intention of ever making it a commercial concern. Our preferred vendors don't pay for advertising and they are all invited to advertise here because of their long term reputation of providing quality services to us.

So I'll start things off with this offering.

Auction rules:
There is no reserve
The winner will be the person with the highest bid placed before 12 noon AEST next Saturday 31st October 2009

Here we go

One Parlor sized set of Tasmanian Tiger Myrtle.
This set is in a prime location, with water views, and has only been driven to church on a Sunday once a week by it's elderly sawmiller owner. Northerly aspect with spa and ensuite.

Ladies and Gentlemen - Do I have a bid.

Not enough hard disk space on the old server to handle more than a few bids....

Im not joking...I just tried to upload some pics and got this:

"Image could not be uploaded.

DEBUG MODE

Line : 132
File : uploadpic.php"

Bob probably busy right now with the fire extinguisher dealing with the smouldering server.

Not a fan of Tiger Myrtle so I won't participate in the auction but I'd be more than happy to chip in with a $100 donation Bob. I've used my fair share of server space & you do have a great forum going here. If that's agreeable to you just pm me. Plus the info I gotten and the "people" that frequent the forum, makes it worth the price of admission.

Nice gesture too Martin

Nick

There'll be more sets on offer for auction.

Tim Spittle and Bob Cefalu have both offered a set of something.

I don't know what yet but I'll start another auction as soon as I get some pics.

Thanks for the offer but use the money in the auction.

For all of your information, I have bought the bits for the new server so it just needs to be assembled, Ubuntu (Linux operating system) needs to be installed and configured with the new forum software.

May have it running in a couple of weeks.

Bob,

How about putting Nicks $100 towards cost of "alcohol cooling" for the new server...should cover a few slabs of VB.

I think it's pretty bloody obvious that Martin has way too much free time on his hands out on that rig and thinks by biding more than double what that mouldy old piece of packing material is worth, well all just let him have it. Well, I'm not playing into that game. I'm not saying that I even like that wood, and although I'm pretty well set for packing material, I think I could use it to shim up that wobbly stand under my bandsaw, so I'm willing to do my share for the upgrades.

I'll go $210.

Installation lubricant I believe is the proper term Martin, makes for a smooth install.
