Top purfling repair

Hey Guys, Well I decided to add a black/white purfling to this guitar.I don't think it looked right the way it was so I got this tool that is used for violin purfs. It holds a dremel and I used a 1/32 downcut bit. First I carefully routed along the rw purf and slowly increased the size of the slot to the blk/wht purf size.It slides along the top of the outside mold and is adjustable in and out.
I don't know why I thought it would look good with No blk/wht border on the inside of the rw purf but...It's just another screw up and learning experiance!


Here's the slot cut -needs another pass to remove the faint white strip.

On current build, I had a 2" section of homemade BWB purfling that was dodgy - too much white and not enough black. It looked bad. I spent time experimenting with my dremel but was dreading the damage I might cause without a precise jig.
So I tried with a sharp knife and was surprised how easily it all came out.
Wouldn't want to do the whole lot that way though - so the stewmac jig is clearly great for that.
I only have one good little knife, and I probably under utilise it.
