Weapons of Mass Production

Post by Bob Connor » Sat Mar 28, 2009 8:17 pm

I got stuck in over the last few days and mass produced braces for the next 20 or 30 guitars.

I still have to do the lap joints on the X-braces and radius the X's as well as the back braces

Once done, however, it should make assembly much quicker.

Bear in mind that these are not the final dimensions of the braces, but they will certainly save a lot of time as I know that I wll take them down at least this far with a chisel.

8mm x 2mm X-brace cappings (did some 6mm as well)

Tone bars - one end scalloped so that they are usable on all guitar sizes

Finger braces - (Dreadnought/jumbo size that can be quickly re-sized to fit anything)

Upper transverse braces in a variety of sizes

Unfortunately I need my day job at the TAFE college Kim.

I get inspired by the way Jim Olson runs his business.

I've been doing a run on some parts as well. It does seem to take a very long time to make progress on an instrument, but then things really happen very fast.

Looking forward to seeing what gets done with all those pieces Bob.

All you need is a USB port in ya Bob and you're a CNC machine
