Impatiently awaiting the arrival of my copies. :D
The impatience is pointless as the moment they arrive they have to be put away until my birthday. :(
Actually, I had to negotiate that the 2 books constitute both my birthday AND christmas presents this year.
I usually get the years GAL membership for xmas - might have to begging this year.... :( :(

Stopped in at Gerard Gilet's workshop on the way home from work this evening and picked up my copy, he also autographed it while I was there.
I've met Gerard several times and he is so interesting to listen to, a wealth of knowledge and extremely willing to share it, all round great bloke.
cheers wayne . . .

Woo hoo! Have my books now, seems the storeman's had them since last week but "forgot" to let me know they'd arrived! Just an extremely quick flick through them & they look great, even the cardboard box is fully printed with titles e.t.c, very professional but looks like I've got a lot of reading to do!
Thanks Trevor & Gerard for a well presented & no doubt, extremely useful set of reference books. I would say they'd go straight to the pool room but I gotta read them first :cl :cl

Reckon you'll be able to get the book open once the person in front of you puts their seat back?
Hi Martin, I was pretty fortunate on the Sydney to Perth leg as I was in one of Virgins new planes with much more legroom than I had experienced on other flights so the reading was not impeded:)...Wow what a book though...I only brought the design book but it is great...lots of formulas to make your head spin but the concepts are what I am trying to grasp...wanting consistency in my builds.
I bet that I am probably the only person in Fitzroy Crossing reading it right now! :)

Had to leave my books at home.......I travel under a 10kg luggage restriction when Im flying on helicopters so a 2kg book is 1/5th of my allowance :(

My advice: don't wait for a review, get the books instead. Except if you prefer to read reviews instead of books, of course.

I agree.....I've only read the first few chapters of Book 1 but I'd reccommend buying the books based on what Ive read so far.

Get these books...even if it means selling you Grandmother and eating dog food for dinner every night.

Aside from what others have said, I believe you would be waiting quite some time for someone to have completely read and absorbed all the material in both books to give an in depth review.

The books are packed very dense with information - there is a lot to digest and the Design book does make for some heavy reading...

Buy them would be my review. :D How fortunate we are to be able to simply "click" and purchase such research and years of effort.

I double that sentiment Jeremy. I've only just started on the design book (every line has been read twice with some of the formula's read 3x  ) but already know these are going to be worth every cent! You have Trevor with his years of studying for a PHD plus time spent post doc & more & Gerard, who's been building quality for years, combining their years of combined knowledge in the guitar field. Be worth the purchase price even if it was doubled for the sheer years of reference value alone.
Only one recommendation Trevor or Gerard, get one version with plastic pages (the type used for $ notes) printed, I can see my copies getting their corners well worn!

That is definitely good advice Martin based on what I have read already!

Thanks for all the positive opinions on the gillet book. I will buy it next month. Currently have been loaned the SOMOGYI books , great ideas, well written, and lots of info, but photos are poorly done black and white ,it would be hard to replicate many of those useful jigs in the books.
