Fret seating problem

I had some trouble with an ebony board on the last guitar. I cut the slots a couple of days before hammering in frets and they wouldnt go in when I got to the job. I had to recut again just before hammering them in (but they stayed ok after that). So perhaps the precut board u bought closed up a bit, maybe also because of glueing it to the neck before hammering in frets? Hard to say.

I havent had any issues with rosewood and ebony was ok the previous guitar.

Tajima pull saw is available from total tools and ebay for abour $35. Blades are replaceable and come in several thicknesees. Saw comes with 265 blade and i use it for most of my hand saw jobs. The 230 is .023" so good for fretting.
I cut my slots with stewmac blade in a single pass but find they can still be a bit tight on some woods so run the tajima 230 through each slot to open it up a smidgeon more. Your pre-slotted board may be in this category.

Thanks all, slots made deeper and a bit wider and re-fretted. Guitar finished and sounds good.
