Brisbane Guitar Making School has just opened a new workshop in Rocklea. It’s a purpose-built teaching space designed for small group learning, with plenty of bench space, natural light, and room to work at your own pace.
This move also marks a shift in how we teach. We’re moving away from template-based building and towards a structured, outcomes-based model. Instead of following fixed plans, students build up real skills and make informed decisions as they go. The goal is to understand the why as much as the how — and to carry that understanding into future builds.
We’re especially geared toward novice builders — people making their first acoustic guitar — but we’re also creating space for the not-so novas: returning builders, folks refining their hand skills, or anyone wanting to revisit fundamentals in a supportive setting.
There’s a write-up in Australian Wood Review that shares more about the thinking behind the move:
If you’re in SEQ or just curious about what we’re doing, feel free to message me directly here on the forum or probably better give me a call. Always happy to have a yarn.
Cheers
