I’m not really surprised by the results of the experiments. The results will wind a few up…

I made the mistake making a comment once on electric guitars on a different forum, never again just not worth it. My comments only involved the the sound difference between a EIR fretboard vs ebony.

It is hard to find objective/scientific studies on the topic of tone and what drives it. This may not be the most scientifically rigorous trial but I like his efforts and I'm not surprised by the results. I would suggest that after the quality of the pickups and other electronics, the next most important thing is the player and their capability - and that may be influenced by the rest of the machine both tactile feel and emotional response.

Thanks for sharing it.

Pretty obviously the Honda engines were responsible for the consistency of tone. He should try with a couple Ducatis

I am so pleased you have linked to this video. With regard to solid body electric guitars played through distorting amplifiers I am very sceptical when it comes to the audibility of such things as choice of body timber, or how much you paid for the bridge, saddle or knobs. Based on this one offering I have subscribed to Jim Lill's YT channel and am looking forward to watching more of his myth-busting videos.
