Thanks Robbie,

I’ve just put the rosette in my first build the other day. I used a medium size router and a 3mm spiral bit. It worked, but no where near as quick and easy a in the video!

Do you recommend using a circle cutter in a drill press? Just wondering your thoughts on that method.

Glad you found the video useful. Some folks do use the drill press cutter but things can go wrong real fast. I have had tearout using that method in the past. The tool spinning around can also be intimidating.

What are your thoughts if I may Robbie, on installed Rosette areas Buckling under string tension, is that in your view more to do with the sides buckling or lack of strength under the rosettes from the inlay process or something entirely different

Definitely a lack of structural integrity and I would say it is in the top. I have made a guitar out of cardboard back and sides and the top has not buckled.

Nice vid. Sounded pretty good for a cardboard sides and back.

I actually have a tricky one in at the momment for repair, ovation 12 string with cutaway, the top is folding under tension at the rosette area adjacent to the cutaway, seeing your post made me rethink and question the why.
