Drinking all the beer at the little cafe/bar/bookshop up the road
And meeting up with Tim and Alan Warbarton from Albany
Of especial interest were the early 19th century style guitars of Jim Buckland. Very tasty building and an awesome player. What was really interesting is that he positions the frets using the old 'rule of 18' (rather that 17.817), which means that the scale is self compensating. I thought this could not possibly work, but it does, and his guitars play just as in tune as any other, even well up past the octave, and with gut strings.
Some food for thought in that one. It might be an interesting experiment to see what happens with steel strings...
cheers
