Flat sawn timber for SS Acoustic neck?

Hello All,
I was after thoughts on flat sawn timber for SS acoustic necks. I have received some nicely figured blackwood in a size that suits being made into a couple of necks, however it is flatsawn. Is this ok if you use carbon reinforcing rods in the neck? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I've used flat sawn Fijian mahogany of a couple of steel string necks...no problems so far. If you're worried about stability then you can always rip the blanks and laminate the strips so grain is running normal to the fretboard face.

I am sure many necks survive well made from flat sawn wood, however, I always find the necks that I am repairing for warpage are typically the flat sawn ones.

I would consider putting carbon fibre strips under the board during the manufacture for an awesome string neck or as Martin said, laminate them or put a laminate in the centre fo an aesthetically pleasing look.
