Stunning wood
Stunning wood
Have to make a 5 ply wenge pickguard next week for a strat, so going through my veneers, opened the flame maple box, and as always it takes your breathe away, such a stunning wood.
Here is a guitar body left over from a build order we did a while ago (yrs)

Re: Stunning wood
Lovely wood. And flamed maple has a long and distinguished history in luthiery. Is that 0.6mm veneer, Steve?

That lot is .8mm
Re: Stunning wood
Yes I always like using it. This one was strung up a few days ago and I am dead chuffed with it.

Re: Stunning wood
I love flamed/figured woods and can't bear to throw any away, no matter how small. So I built my "Harlequaster'' from various offcuts.
The burl sheoak was offcuts from my Les Paul Junior, which was made from offcuts from my dining table. The flame maple, from 2 flame top Les Pauls. The cherry, from a McDonalds I did some shop fitting in. 6mm top on Mahogany body.
