I have always used wooden bindings but now busy treating myself to a Gibson L-00 copy with sunburst and plastic bindings. My question is:
1. Do I use white or cream? Unfortunately Ivoroid is not able to be shipped to New Zealand.
2. What is the preferred adhesive for plastic to wood?

Re: Plastic bindings
I also have an L-OO in the pipeline. I have decided to do the Nick Lucas version, which has the deeper body. They are known for a better balance and good bass response. X braced as well. Personally I am not fussed about doing an accurate reproduction with the plastic bindings. Gibson already do their reissue version. I am more interested in developing good tone-an instrument that has the quality of a hand built and tuned guitar that hasn't come from a factory. So I am going to put my own mark on the build, which will include nice maple or blackwood bindings- or perhaps another timber I haven't visualised yet. There are so many guitars in the world, I don't want to copy, I would rather use tried and true designs and innovate as well.

Re: Plastic bindings
G'day Rodney
For the ABS bindings i use "Weld-On" No 16, it says "Fast Set" on the tube and their not messing around! you need to move quick
There is a tutorial on it, i think it's "Blues Creek Guitars"
But again it's a US product so shipping may be an issue
"Tarzans Grip" may do the same thing?
Maybe hit up a Signwriter or someone who works Acrylic
Good luck with the build
Cheers Frank

Re: Plastic bindings
I was using Weldon but now I've started using Tarzans grip after reading some posts on the forum, I think it works good and gives you a little more time to work with and it's cheaper and easier to get.
