Mountain dulcimer fretboard

Hi Folks,
I've started a couple of tear-drop mountain dulcimers I have plans but I'm keen to add arches to the underside of the fret boards. Are there any guidelines/measurements or positioning rules for this?

Since mountain Dulcimers are a folk instrument there are few if any "rules" around them.. i've made a few but never done that style of fretboard.
