I have some bunya pine and hoop pine that looks similar to that. Could be one of those.

Don't know my Aussie woods very well but this example has similarities to NZ kauri.

Thanks Mat, Curly and Lauburu. It's looking like the Kauri is the best match. I don't have any with vertical grain so will probably just split it and use it for bracing. Are there any know issues with stability etc?

Kauri is very stable once it's dry. Most of NZ's early houses were made of made of kauri. Not sure if the stiffness to weight ratio would make it ideal for bracing. Only one way to find out.
