After visiting your site I see red cedar is not currently available. Cheers.
Re: HIGH MOUNTAIN TONEWOOD: INTRODUCTORY SALE
Hi Bobby,
Any way of getting quotes on freight costs before actioning an order? For those of us putting in small orders the freight costs become a decider as to whether or not we go ahead with a purchase.
Perhaps you could provide rough freight costs for 5, 10 and 20 2A lutz set consignments.
Cheers and thanks Martin
PS Good luck with the new business

Lutz much nicer than cedar. Cedar doesn't ring like a Chinese gong when you tap itdemonx wrote:Red Cedar guitar sets at clearance price?

Re: HIGH MOUNTAIN TONEWOOD: INTRODUCTORY SALE
Hi guys! Sorry, no Arch Top Guitar sets. I have a few Arch Top Mandolins, but only a few.
We will be cutting some cedar in the next little bit though and I will post some photos. I will also post some arch tops when they are ready.
As for the shipping. Yes, I will weigh out some different size packages, and maybe even try a couple different locations and post that so you can get a rough idea. Give me a day or two though and it'll be up here.
Feel free to contact us anytime for questions, quotes, availability, etc.
Cheers,
Bobby

Shipping costs to Adelaide, South Australia: 10 sets = $96.35
5 sets = $84.31
Shipping costs to Brisbane, Queensland: 5 sets = $82.26
I'm finding shipping costs to be similar in different areas of Australia. Hope this helps guys!
Sales Prices are on for the month of August!!

Re: HIGH MOUNTAIN TONEWOOD: INTRODUCTORY SALE
Was talking about this to somebody just yesterday! MAF (or I think it has now become MPI- Ministry for Primary Industries) are pretty good, I've imported 1000's of $ worth of timber and as long as it describes the timber as guitar wood or has the word guitar in it somewhere they don't appear to intercept or inspect the package. Only once did they open a parcel and that was because it was some Spruce Billets for bracing and neck & tailblock stock and was described as such on the declaration.kiwigeo wrote:Hope the MAF boys don't pounce on the package...
GST collection however is a different story!

I went through Auckland with a pair of work boots and they insisted on cleaning them even though the "dirt" on the boots was oil based drilling mud and more likely to kill any living life form on the boots. So...they scrubbed and scrubbed for half an hour and then realised that I was right and that the stuff couldnt be removed from my boots and they gave me back my boots....still covered in oil base drilling mud.

Re: HIGH MOUNTAIN TONEWOOD: INTRODUCTORY SALE
Hi All,
So The first time dealing with a wood supplier is always a little nerve racking, even if they have been endorsed by Shane, But fear not my wood arrived today, I took 10 sets of each 1A and 2A .
It was Dry - Tick, well packaged -Tick , not marked with thick permanent marker-Tick, well prepped- Tick, as described - Tick and great value -Tick.
It did not have a crazy name like ( Berry infested bear shit, harvested at midnight lutz), nor did I receive a GPS location.
Just Nicely prepped wood, well packaged that exceeded my expectations for the price I paid.
Well done Bobby and Team.
Thanks,

Ditto
Five sets of 2A arrived here today also, in fine condition. Packaged well, looks like lovely timber, and rings like a gong. I am happy.

Not sure, think this is my first post, oh the mind is going. Anyway stopped by a few times to see what you guys are up to and some interesting things caught my eye. Eventually joined as I picked up the Gore/Gilet books and figured might as well join as at some point I may get confused by the books rather than normal life. Normal life I just shrug it off, the books I may need some help.
But onto this thread it is funny I never knew about High mountain as a seller even though we share the same country. Funny I had to go half way across the world to find out about them. Seeing that people here have been happy with their tops I used their web site to leave a message that I would like to buy some wood. I am not sure how long it should take to get a response, I left a message the beginning of the week and another one yesterday. How long did it take for those that bought wood to get a response? While I do have enough wood to make some guitars I wanted to use a few of the tops to experiment with.
Just as a quick introduction I am new to building and have only built one acoustic, another neck and fixed a few guitars. Somehow the guitar building bug got hold of me even though I just really wanted to build one small guitar to practice with. New to playing also.

Yeah - that never happens.Printer2 wrote:I just really wanted to build one small guitar
Now you are buying more tonewood (TAS beginning already), and looking at luthier forums on the other side of the world. I bet you are checking out the StewMac site regularly for new tools that you have just got to have. Hooked. Welcome to the club!
I got pretty quick email responses from HMT - within a few days, but not hours. I guess they are out doing wood stuff more than spending time doing computer stuff.
