Hi all,, i'm just starting a project at the moment that is a 16inch full body arch top, using WRC, wow much lighter than your common garden variety Sitka,, so i believe with cedar and also King billy the soundboard should be a tad thicker say, 20% ? but as far as the bracing goes seeing as the top is so light i don't want my bracing to be too heavy and i know that the load is going to be just the same , so i'm thinking a slightly lighter bracing set up along with a carbon fibre tow to add some extra stiffness without the bulk of my standard bracing for this type of instrument.
Any opinions offered here will be gratefully received .
Have a great Easter!!
Cheers.
Rod.

Re: Archtops and carbon fibre
I've got no experience with arch tops and no experience with Carbon fibre so take my comments with that in mind. On a flat top I always brace WRC with sitka. WRC is not only light but not as stiff as Sitka.. YES it certainly needs to be thicker on a flatop I tend to 15 -20 % thicker but that of course varies with each piece of wood...
One other thing WRC dents EASILY!!...
I'm sure more experienced than me will have comments..
