and the other way to fix a lifting bridge
Had this guitar in for refret, the customer was adamant he wanted the job done, he'd had the guitar for 20 years and loved it. I asked if he was happy with the sound, he said yes, and that he had done the bridge repair some years earlier. When I got it on the bench this is what I found, handy sort of guy How does it sound? Not much.

The thing is, that would have taken some time and "precision". If only the same time had gone into the proper fix.

I almost fell off the chair and I'm glad I wasn't handling coffee or other liquids that could get into the keyboard when I saw the pictures!
But hey, he even drilled a hole in the new "bridge plate" for that little cable!

Re: and the other way to fix a lifting bridge
There are some very creative instrument owners out there, I should have took photo's of the one's I've seen over the years. From school orchestral instruments neck repairs, violin bridges, crack repairs, tuning machines, guitar bridges and of course the home fret job. I used to get some good inventive bush repairs from Aboriginal communities when my shop was in Alice Springs. I suppose if your a car mechanic you come across the same thing in cars, or used to.

The guitar owned to Uncle Fester, who got it from his father.

Hey Tom, I remember the old Eko brand guitar had the bridge held on with 3 visible large rivets.
