New Zealand Cruise

Post by ozziebluesman » Sun Aug 04, 2013 7:35 pm

The wife and I are taking a cruise January 8th next year for two weeks from Brisbane to New Zealand. We have a few tours arranged and we will be visiting these ports as per picture. If any of you fellow guitar builders over there could put up with a half day visit from an old fart guitar builder from North Queensland I would really like to meet a few of you and possibly take a few workshop tours if possible.

Cheers

Alan

Alan you and the missus are in for a cracker trip!!! Sadly the best I can do is wave as you sail on down to Aucks.
I am very surprised you are not stopping in the Bay of Islands!!

Cheers,

Christian.

Hi Christian,
Looks like some of the other Cruise Companies call on the Bay Of Islands but not Sea Princess.
Looking forward to the trip but would have loved a visit to your shop.
Cheers

Bad timing. Sadly I'm away from Auckland on holiday at that time. Would have loved to introduce you to some fine NZ beers. (Yes they do exist.)
Will have to wait for the return visit.

I'll be in touch a bit closer to time Alan when I have a better idea of what I'll be up to at that time. Akaroa is a nice spot but about an hour's drive over hills from Christchurch but if I'm free, would love to give you a whistle stop tour of Christchurch. My "shed" is nothing too exciting unfortunately as it doubles as the department's wood shop during the day so I don't have jig's and tools setup (don't want the monkey's getting their hands on the good stuff! ) like most but we could probably squeeze a visitation in.

Ok thanks Nick. I would be just as happy to meet for lunch and have a chat for a few hours. I really would like to see some of the New Zealand native woods you use over there for guitar building. Also get the opportunity to play a few guitars made from local material to judge the tone. I was disappointed that I couldn't get to meet Christian as he uses all native material.

Cheers

Hi to all you guitar builders in New Zealand. Our cruise first port of all is Auckland on 12th, Tauranga the 13th Napier the 14th Wellington the 15th and Akaroa on the 16th. We have excursions planned on most days but only two are all day with most half day so there will be some time windows where I may be able to meet a few of you and maybe have some workshop tours :) If it's not possible well I can only put it out there and see, your never know we may be able to work out something.

Cheers to you all
