Solvents in Sydney

Post by woodrat » Tue Oct 08, 2013 11:24 am

Hi All....I am wondering if anybody knows where to get solvents in Sydney at reasonable prices. I am after acetone and lacquer thinners as well as Metho. I recently bought a liter of acetone at my local Home hardware store and it was $13.50 for a liter... I am going to Sydney on the 25th of this month and driving through to the south side so anywhere around Botany or another suburb that is not too far out of the way would be good. Even somewhere not too far off the Pacific Hwy on the north side would be equally fine...

I bought some acetone from Durobond, Brookvale last Friday. $29.70 for 4 litres. I get my metho and lacquer thinners there, too. I'm sure those aren't the cheapest prices but at least their solvents are "dry" compared to what you'll get at a hardware store (even if they can't figure out how to answer the 'phone.)

Hi Trevor...Brookie might be a bit out of the way as I intend to cruise down the Pacific, under the Harbour and around by the airport and then to somewhere near Rockdale... thanks for the post though...:)

PS up to my ears in making Falcate guitars at the moment :)
