Balalaika

Post by migal » Mon Feb 25, 2013 6:40 am

I've just had an enquiry to see if I would have a go at building a balalaika. I've never seen one in the flesh, so have no ideas at all. Has anyone here made one?

Never seen one either but American Lutherie has a plan for one. If you have the Big Red Book 2 an article on it's construction is there.

Here is a link to a pdf from them.

Migal The specialist publication No.10 by Model & Allied Publications in the UK reprinted a series of articles from the Woodworker Magazine, on building a violin.balalaika and guitar. This was probably about 30 to 40 years ago.I have a copy ,about 25 pages double sided.
I could try scanning parts should anyone be curious. It would have to wait a couple of weeks though.

Cheers Tom.

[img]Mike , your build seems to be outside most peoples radar so I will send the first page for info. Each page is about 280Kb. It was originally printed on glossy paper which caused a few problems. If you want the full article contact me off line .
All the best Tom .
