NZ source for Z-poxy?

Post by Shane Woonton » Tue Aug 14, 2012 10:53 am

Hi guys,

I've been using timbermate for pore-filling but struggle to find a suitable range of colours here in NZ. Wanted to try Z-poxy for a change as it seems to get a good wrap (despite the long term potential health implications) but again, tough to find locally. Does anyone know of a good source for this stuff in NZ? Or what do you kiwis use as an alternative? I'm Wellington based.

Cheers,

Shane

Just found this thread - http://connor.net.au/anzlf/viewtopic.ph ... 0&start=25 with some good discussion in it.

Will give West systems with 207 hardener a go. I think I've found a source for that locally.

In Australia, hobby shops usually stock Z-poxy, and I suspect the same may be true in N.Z.

Try here: http://www.acorn.co.nz/products/paint-g ... zap/67195/

Try model shops and also fly fishing supply houses.

Thanks guys,

Yep. I found a couple of online model shops but, on top of the exorbitant local pacific peso price they wanted to charge $10 - 12 for delivery and I can't seem to find a local model shop who stocks the brand. So, on with the West system!

Cheers,

Shane

Acorn! Geez have to sell your first born & a left testicle to shop there! Their CA's are probably 4 times the price of bringing the stuff in from overseas! Be better off with the Wests system Shane (in the absence of a Z Poxy supplier willing to sell without ripping you off!), it's what I use and haven't had a problem so far, just wear latex gloves to avoid skin contact (not that one exposure could kill you but never hurts to start out with as much PP as possible).

We use CA at work so I'm in the fortunate position to have access to that but my workmate builds remote controlled aircraft, he informs me he gets all his CA's & epoxys from Hobby King in Hong Kong. Apparently not only is the product cheaper but the shipping is cheaper than from the states & all up, cheaper again than Acorn.
On the Hobby King site, if you click on an item's "Buy Now" button it takes you to a product description, at the bottom of that description is a weight. At the top of the page is a button called "postage tables" click on that and use the weight of the product to find out how much postage will be before you decide to buy.

Nick, thanks for the Hong Kong connection. Will follow that up.
