Hi all,
My name is Ben, from Perth, WA, I'm 24 years old and over the past 2 or so years have been addicted to modifying my guitars.
So far they have only been fairly low key mods - replacing bridges, pickups, nuts, rewiring etc, but I want to get more involved and start creating my own guitars for myself and possibly to sell on in the future.
The idea of starting out with blanks and creating something unique really appeals to me and scares me at the same time, as my woodworking skills are slim and I've had no formal training. I work full time as an insurance broker and my guitar-building would be restricted to evenings and weekends.
Would anyone be able to provide me with some guidance as to where some good places to source blanks (or kits if you think that I should start with ready-cut at first), and possibly just some advice in general?
Thanks in advance.
Benj

Hi Benj and welcome to the ANZLF.
For really good wood give Tim Spittle a call. He's up in Bassendean so you may get an invite to drop in and see his stock..and mate, its worth the drive even if your miles away cause he has HEAPS more stuff than he shows on his site and he's a really nice bloke..
You'll find his contact details here: http://www.australiantonewoods.com/

Welcome to the forum Ben, my rather tongue in cheek comment was meaning you may be addicted to tinkering now but once you start building, it's worse, and can be more expensive than a crack habit

Hi benj, come out and see me.
In clarkson.
I would recommend you build a kit first, yes I can do you a deal on a kit guitar to start with.
Have worked with quite a few aspring local builders, some have been successful some have not.

Kits a good way to start, but your unique guitar out of this difficult to do.
