What's the opinion on using Titebond LHG to glue down the bridge? I searched the forum for a similar thread but couldn't find it (although I understand there seem to have been some concerns about the general quality of the glue in the past). I bought a small bottle from Carba-tec recently but thought I'd consult first. I'm French polishing at the moment (with the bridge area taped) if that is relevant.
Thanks,
Kim

Exactly. And this is why I never ever would use it for any structurally challenged joint. I recommend you to stick with Titebond original (the one with the red label) or hot hide glue. If I had bought Franklin's liquid hide glue I would use it for less important joints and when used up not replace it. It's just not worth the risk.Kim de Rijke wrote:(although I understand there seem to have been some concerns about the general quality of the glue in the past).

Bought some Carbatec LHG once and used it on a structural joint. Epic fail. Don't know whether it was the poor quality of the glue or just simply its inability to set hard enough. Never again

Avoid.
I believe I was told once it also contains formaldehyde (?) to keep it 'liquid'. Whatever - it simply does not set as hard or have the structural integrity of true HHG. They are very different beasts. Don't use it - particularly for such a stressed joint as the bridge.
Jeremy.

If it doesn't set up as hard, then you're in all likelihood going to get creep. Gluing a bridge is the exact area where you want to avoid creep.
