So how does it sound? Enquiring minds want to know. Engelmann and Blackwood is one of my preferred wood combinations in mandolins so it should work well in an archtop.

Gorgeous guitar Rod...
I found the Benedetto S6 pickup to be very hot but good tone.
Did you like it?
Cheers

Looking Awesome Rod!
Re: Blackwood/ Engleman jazzbox.
It's just gorgeous and that stripe up the neck has me envious.... but what I really what to know is how that Blackwood was to carve? The smaller bits I've done where no walk in the park

Allen, carving the blackwood wasn't a problem at all the only thing i don't like about it is the massive pores i have to fill, i think the issue of pores is exaggerated with arch tops because of the contours cutting through the pores on a very sharp angle ,but as far as carving!!! not a problem!

It's a beautiful archtop, Rod. I love archtops. Would you consider letting us know your formula for that nice top color? If my screen is not deceiving me, I'm seeing a very nice purple-ish, reddish brown in the sunburst shading and I love the color.
Congratulations,
Patrick

Patrick, no special formula to the burst, i used Colortone red mahogany stain on the burst after i sprayed the belly with a couple of coats of vintage amber to try to brighten that centre a bit.
